Edmonton, AB — A motorcyclist is dead following a serious collision in Northwest Edmonton on Friday evening, according to the Edmonton Police Service (EPS).
The incident occurred around 5:27 p.m. on June 13 at the intersection of 127 Street and 148 Avenue. Police say a Kawasaki motorcycle was traveling northbound on 127 Street when it collided with a Subaru that was turning left at the intersection as the traffic light turned red.
The force of the collision caused the motorcyclist to be ejected from the motorcycle. Paramedics responded to the scene, but the rider was declared deceased on site.
EPS investigators believe that speed on the part of the motorcycle may have contributed to the crash. No further details about the identity of the motorcyclist have been released.
The intersection remained closed for several hours Friday evening as the EPS Major Collision Investigations Section conducted their on-site analysis.
Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have dashcam footage from the area to come forward. Witnesses are encouraged to contact investigators at 780-423-4567 or submit information anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
The investigation remains ongoing.
